Schedule

Thursday, December 26: Self Portraits with Beth Davis
Learn how to create a portrait of yourself that represents what you look like and what you love in this workshop. Participants will learn how to mix paint to create their own specific skin and hair colors, how to draw their face proportionally, and ways to add items that share more about themselves to create a one-of-a-kind portrait.
RSVP here.

Friday, December 27: Shadow Puppets with Phoebe Hiltermann
Learn how to animate light and shadow in this workshop where we will design, craft, and play with our very own shadow puppet creations. By drawing and cutting creatures out of paper with moving parts, we will explore visual elements of color, shape, and dimension, and discover how we can use these to create ever changing landscapes of imaginary worlds.

Monday, December 30: Story Prompts with Nina Keneally
Learn how to create a storyline, characters, and short play in this collaborative workshop. Working in small groups, participants will use images as the inspiration to write short stories, develop characters, and bring them to life in the format of a play. Writing ability is not required to participate.

Tuesday, December 31: Hybrid Creatures with Rebecca Cuscaden Marvin
Learn how to create a hybrid creature of your own design in this workshop inspired by Osman Khan’s Road to Hybridabad. We will explore stories with hybrid creatures and use them as inspiration to create our own, both individually and collaboratively, using a variety of materials.

Wednesday, January 1: Macramé Wall Hangings with Donald Jackson
Learn basic knot-tying skills to create your own unique wall hanging in this workshop introduction to the fiber and decorative arts. By encouraging self-reflection of each individual’s unique traits and celebrating our differences, participants will weave colors that represent their own traits into their macramé design. Ability to tie shoes is recommended but not required.
